Ruth's House

Ruth’s House Residential Programs

Young people ages 12 to 21 are served by two programs at Ruth’s House.

  • Semi-Independent Living 12-17 years old
  • Transitional Living 16-21 years old

The Semi-independent Living Program is a more structured program with level systems for 12 to 17 year old LGBTQ youth.

The Transitional Living Program is an up to 18-month independent living residential program for 16-21 year old LGBTQ youth.

The Transitional Living Program includes the following services:

  • Youth development approach
  • Aftercare planning and follow-up

The semi-independent living program provides:

  • Structured, supervised environment, based on positive youth development
  • Development of self-esteem and worth
  • Addresses issues of neglect, abandonment, abuse and risky behaviors that follows
  • Medical and mental health care access
  • A home-like setting
  • Opportunities to complete education
  • Life skills to move toward independence

The young people in our program are referred from the Michigan Department of Human Services, Wayne County Child and Family Services around Michigan and youth supervising programs in other states.
